For the 2nd consecutive weekend, the Davis varsity took on national-level competition in the elite Copley Cup event. We were unable to quite keep pace with Temple and Purdue in the final, but hopefully learned more about what it will take to compete at that high of a level.
The Davis JV took a solid step forward, finishing 3rd behind only the Cal JV and 3V boats in the JV event. In the process, the JV reversed an early-season loss to the UC San Diego JV team, while also beating Purdue, Notre Dame, and Orange Coast College.
The Davis novice 8 finished a comfortable 3rd in their heat, behind Cal and Orange Coast. In the petite final on Sunday, the novies started poorly, behind the field in 6th place. They put things together and rowed through Sonoma State and USC, and then pulled through UC Irvine in the sprint to take 3rd (9th overall). The 2nd novice 8 rowed in the 4th level final and beat the UCLA 2nd novice in that race.
The Davis men next compete in the annual duel with Sacramento State on Saturday, 4/8, hosted this year at the Port of Sacramento. <% print_footer(); %>
